Dick Bonham

Writer, Director, Producer

Dick is co-Artistic Director of Sometimes We Play and Producer of LittleMighty based in Leeds. He studied English Literature and Theatre Studies at the University of Leeds.

His directorial work includes ongoing collaborations with Daniel Bye, such as The Price of Everything, which has toured internationally ("a thoughtful delight" - Lyn Gardner, The Guardian) and Going Viral (visiting Edinburgh in 2015). Other projects includes Matthew Belwood's An Icy Man, which premiered at West Yorkshire Playhouse, and Emma Decent's Beyond Dreams of Aberystwyth.

As a producer with LittleMighty he works with remarkable artists to make brilliant theatre happen. Their current clients include Unfolding Theatre, Move to Stand and Lunabug Theatre.

From 2008 - 2012, Dick was a producer at The Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds, where he was closely involved in the creation of Emerge, a new work development programme supporting emerging artists in the region.

Before that he was a core member of Imprint Theatre Company. He began by directing an all-female version of Oh What A Lovely War for the Royal Armouries in Leeds, and went on to direct all their major productions. He wrote a number of these, including Smoke & Mirrors (a large-scale installation using sound, light and performance), More Or Less Ourselves (a touring piece for theatres) and Dead of Night (contemporary Victorian ghost stories in site-specific locations). Their hugely successful series of installations for Leeds Light Night has been called “spectacular” (Leeds Guide) and “fantastic” (the BBC).
